A Red Letter Day. . . thoughts on the color RED

Today I thought I would look into the color RED. Did you know that red has more personal associations than any other color? It is a stimulant and thus, very exciting and dramatic. The amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived.

Red draws attention and used well, it can accent and direct your attention or focus on a particular element.
 Red increases enthusiasm.

Red stimulates energy and can increase the blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat and pulse rates.

Red encourages action and confidence.

In Greece, easter eggs are dyed red and they have an expression "piase kokkino" which means "touch red". They say this when two people say the same thing at the same time. It is believed that this is an omen that the two will have an argument in the future which can only be broken when the two of them touch the closest thing that is red.

The Chinese consider red to be good luck and fortune.
Red represents beauty in many cultures.

Red is the highest arc in the rainbow.

Red is the first color you lose sight of at twilight.
Red is the longest wavelength.

Feng Shui recommends painting the front door of a home red to invite prosperity and fortune.
Bees can't see the color red but they can see all the other bright colors. Red flowers are pollinated by birds, butterflies, bats and wind - but NO BEES.

Red carpet treatment- giving privileged treatment to an important person.
When we say it has been a RED LETTER DAY, it has been a memorable and joyful day. A day to be remembered. What could be more perfect for a wedding or special occasion than that??

til next time. . .
