A Red Letter Day. . . thoughts on the color RED

Today I thought I would look into the color RED. Did you know that red has more personal associations than any other color? It is a stimulant and thus, very exciting and dramatic. The amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived.

Red draws attention and used well, it can accent and direct your attention or focus on a particular element.

 Red increases enthusiasm.

Red stimulates energy and can increase the blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat and pulse rates.

Red encourages action and confidence.

In Greece, easter eggs are dyed red and they have an expression "piase kokkino" which means "touch red". They say this when two people say the same thing at the same time. It is believed that this is an omen that the two will have an argument in the future which can only be broken when the two of them touch the closest thing that is red.

The Chinese consider red to be good luck and fortune.

Did You Know. . . Pastries taste better out of pink boxes?

I have been interested in colors, what they symbolize, their meanings and why we feel comfortable and happy with certain colors over others. So this is the first of many in a series on COLOR, today's color being PINK.

Pink is the color of universal love.

Lovers of beauty favor pink.

A pink carnation means "I will never forget you."

Pink is a combination of red and white, the quality of energy in pink being determined by how much red is present.  White is the potential for fullness, while red helps you to achieve that potential. Pink combines these two energies.

Did you know that pastries taste better when they out of a pink box or are served on pink plates? Seriously, they say this is true but it only works for sweets. Pink makes you crave sugar.

Pink is the color of happiness.

First lady, Mamie Eisenhower loved pink and wore it so much and so often that it became known as 'Mamie Pink'.

I hope you enjoyed today's thoughts on the color pink. Til next time. . .
